The Ministry of the Presidency (MotP), through the Office of Climate Change, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on Thursday July 13, 2017, launched the Japan-Caribbean Climate Change Partnership (J-CCCP) in Bartica, which will see the town benefiting from the installation of a 20Kwp grid connected Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system at the 3-Mile Secondary School along with the installation of energy efficient lighting, as well as light-emitting diode (LED) street lighting.

 Minister of State, Mr. Joseph Harmon, today, said that the Government of Guyana is committed to seeing the town of Bartica become a model of ‘green’ development, not only in Guyana but the entire Caribbean region as he launched a US$650,000 project, which is aimed at establishing a reliable point of reference for the existing state of energy use in Bartica.

The Office of Climate Change (OCC) of the Ministry of the Presidency in collaboration with the Caribbean Community Centre on Climate Change (CCCCC or Five Cs), today, concluded a five day Caribbean Climate Online Risk and Adaptation TooL (CCORAL) training, which is geared towards assisting policy and decision makers to draft and design projects, particularly in the area of infrastructural development, which adequately integrate climate change, climate risk and climate vulnerability considerations.
