In an effort to equip teachers, students and residents of Bartica with the technological skills that can assist in providing modern solutions to the challenges of transitioning Bartica, Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven) to the first model ‘green’ town in Guyana and the Caribbean as envisioned by President David Granger, the Office of Climate Change (OCC),

The Office of Climate Change (OCC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, today, launched the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) pilot programme in Bartica, Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven).

The Office of Climate Change (OCC) continues to implement and execute projects articulated in the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS), mainly since these are tied to the bilateral agreement between the Government of Guyana and the Kingdom of Norway.

Twelve teachers from Bartica, along with four community stakeholders, today, underwent a one-day training workshop in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Robotics, aimed at equipping them with technological skills, which can assist in providing modern solutions to the challenges of transitioning Bartica, Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven) to the first model ‘green’ town in Guyana and the Caribbean.

The Office of Climate Change (OCC) with direction from the Minister of State, over the past two years, has been working committedly with support from local and international partners to address the local challenges associated with climate change and to take Guyana further along the ‘green path.’
