Georgetown, Guyana – (January 24, 2019) The Office of Climate Change (OCC), today, concluded the first phase of the Transitioning to National Energy Security (TNES): Bartica as a model ‘Green’ Town Project at the cost of US$650,000, which has seen the gathering and compilation of data on energy use to inform evidence-based decision making for the future implementation of projects and programmes.

The Office of Climate Change (OCC), today opened its first National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Workshop, which is the first step in the consultancy for the formulation of a national plan to reduce Guyana’s vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. The workshop will also facilitate the integration of climate change into new and existing policies and programmes regarding Guyana’s development.

The Office of Climate Change (OCC), today, honoured three Climate Change Ambassadors for their outstanding achievements at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE). Ms. Aadilah Ali, Ms. Christine Archer, and Ms. Suphane Dash, who represented Guyana at the Youth Climate Change Conference last October, were celebrated at a brief recognition ceremony, held at the OCC, Ministry of the Presidency.

VIENNA, August 8, 2018: The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) signed an agreement to pursue areas of technical cooperation in the use of nuclear science and technology to combat climate change in the Caribbean, at the headquarters of the IAEA in Vienna, Austria on August 8.
